On September 16, invited by SMXMU’s International Affairs Office, leaded by Mr. Stan Astachnowicz and Mr. Scott Copeland, 18 students from UniSA arrived in Xiamen and started their 5-day life at Xiamen University. The 5-day schedule included a lecture introducing China, Xiamen culture and economic development, a company visit, campus and city tours, etc.
On September 17, students had Prof. Bill Brown’s lecture about China and Xiamen. Students were deeply impressed by Prof. Bill Brown’s humor and personal charisma. In the Q&A section, students were really active in asking questions. They wanted to seize the opportunity to know more about China and Xiamen city.
On September 18, students visited Bama Tea Company in Anxi County. The peaceful and tranquil environment, the aromatic and mellow Oolong tea, the artistic tea ceremony, the modern production line gave the students great surprises. Pleasantly, they had a taste of Chinese tea culture and gained a better understanding of Chinese wisdom of business management.
On September 19, organized by International Affairs Office, students went to Quanzhou city, the starting point of Maritime Silk Road. The city had a history of one thousand year, famous for its local architecture, customs, dialects and food of Fujian style. Students had a good time in Kaiyuan Temple, Maritime Silk Road Museum and Confucius Temple.
On the morning of September 20, before leaving the campus for next destination, UniSA’s teachers and students took a group photo by the Furong Lake. What the students got from the journey was not only some refreshing experiences but also valuable friendship.
